Dandelion Village

Dandelion Village is an ecovillage and intentional community in Bloomington, Indiana. An intentional community is a community where people choose to live together by intention rather than by happenstance. An ecovillage is an intentional community that is centered around a shared desire to live a sustainable lifestyle in greater harmony with the environment and nature. In Dandelion, we plan to accomplish that by applying the principles of permaculture to the design of our living spaces, indoors and out.

Dandemonium House - Home, sweet home.

The village currently consists of two houses on one half acre plots and a two and a quarter acre parcel of land behind them. It lies ten minutes by bike west of downtown Bloomington. The houses are 1710 W. 8th street, which the village currently rents, and 1706 W. 8th street which is owned by a village member. The two acres of land behind the houses currently hosts two small naturally built structures, a 2 story naturally build house that is midway towards completion, a 3 year old food forest, an outdoor classroom and performance space and a small pond. The village currently houses 8 members total split between the two houses.

If you’re interested in getting involved in the village or living here, shoot us an email or come to one of our workdays and meetings. Workdays and meetings are held on the first and third Sunday of every month. Workdays begin at 3 pm and the meeting follows immediately after at 6 pm in Dandemonium house (1710 W. 8th street).

We’re Building a New Website

posted on April 08, 2014

The village has been through some changes in the past few months. Among them has been the development of a new website and the shift to a new web server. The changes and development are still on going, so bear with us for a while if things are a little sparse. We’ll get there, we promise.
